random projects

she makes random projects

Although I've made 600+ cutting boards, turned over 150 bowls, and built shelves and tables, I've also managed to make a few random custom projects. I've given credit to sites whose plans/ideas I used, Young House Love and Ana White (both have tons of projects and are great resources for plans and ideas).

x desk

I needed a desk to work from home. FAST, nothing fancy, and needed to be a fairly quick, simple build. I was able to find a design that I liked from Ana White (which is a GREAT site for plans and ideas), picked up some 2x4's from Home Depot, and got to work. I built this in just over a day, with no real problems. I had to put several coats of the green stain on, as it was very opaque. I'm pretty happy with this, and the green stain really gives it a unique look.

treasure boxes

My nieces have plenty of Legos, so I built them treasure boxes (I also made a box for my mom to put my dad's ashes in). All three boxes were cut from the same slab of ambrosia maple and I was able to get the grain direction to match up and wrap by using ninja cutting tactics on the tablesaw. A few minutes after opening, they already had some trinkets and birthday money tucked in the bins.

doll house

Another birthday, another build for my nieces. I stumbled onto plans from John at Young House Love and thought that this would be perfect for the girls to play with together. I built this using 1" pine and the roof was a few coats of Krylon textured paint. After building, it was time to decorate and add some people. I bought several of the Fisher Price Loving Family kits and furnishings (much thanks to Cindy for making the bedding!), and although the cost was more than expected, it was all worth it in the end.
