she makes bowls

Bowls are turned from a variety of wood with my favorites being maple, walnut, and myrtle. I try to source blanks locally, or from friends/neighbors who are having trees cut down. For larger bowls, due to the possibility of warping and cracking (because wood naturally moves), it's best to rough turn it to about a one inch thickness, seal it with wax, and let it dry for six months. It can then be finish turned once dried, sanded and then a finish can be applied.
